Description:
The CNPMEM is an interprofessional organisation of maritime fisheries and marine breeding to which must join all members of the profession, whatever their status, involved in production, purchase and transformation of products from maritime fisheries and marine breeding.
The CNPMEM was created after the law of May 2, 1991 replacing both the Central Committe of Maritime Fisheries (CCPM) and interprofessional committees. The organisation includes, in addition to the national committee, 13 regional committes and 39 local committees, all with legal status and financial autonomy.
The committees’ main tasks are:
-to represent and promote the main interests of these activities;
-to take part in the organisation of a balanced management of the marine resources;
-to contribute to the control and security measures to harmonise the interests of all the sectors; and
-to participate in the improvement of production conditions.

The European Bureau for Conservation and Development, (EBCD), is an non-profit international, non-governmental organisation based in Brussels. EBCD´s mission is to ensure the conservation and sustainable use of natural renewable resources including species and ecosystems both for their intrinsic and direct value to the benefit of humanity.
An active member of IUCN since its establishment, EBCD works closely with its network of experts, Commissions and Programmes as well as with other organizations and institutions actively involved in the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable management of natural renewable resources. Furthermore, EBCD provides the Secretariat of the IUCN European Sustainable Use Specialist Group.

The NFFO is the main representative body for fisherman in England and Wales.
Our Objectives are:

  • The formation and continuation of a close and harmonious working relationship between industries, to the mutual benefit of both, whilst engaging in different activities in the same offshore areas.
  • To liase and assist wherever possible, in formulating arrangements which allow both parties to co-exist during ongoing offshore activities.

Description:
The North East Scotland Fishermens Organisation (NESFO) was formed in 1980 and is a Producer Organisation (PO) set up under European legislation, to asist its members as catchers and producers of fish within its recognised economic area.
NESFO currently has 43 member vessels and is actively engaged in improving their operational environment and overall efficiency through improved marketing and securing additional quotas. The main species for the PO are haddock, whiting, saithe, monks, megrim and cod. The bulk of the fish is caught by pair/twin trawl or seine net in the North Sea with smaller amounts West of Scotland and at Faeroe

The Scottish Fishermen’s Federation was formed in 1973 to preserve and promote the collective interests of Scottish Fishermen’s Associations. The Federation plays an active role in advancing the interests of Scottish fishermen at national and international levels by lobbying government officials in Edinburgh, London and Brussels. The Federation also plays an important role in helping to inform: fisheries science; marine environment management; inshore fisheries management; marine safety regulations; and industry training/recruitment programmes.

Seas At Risk is an independent non-governmental federation of national and international environmental organisations concerned with the protection and restoration of the marine environment.

The Stichting van de Nederlandse Visserij (Foundation of the Dutch Fishery) was created in 1948 by a large number of fishery organisations. It is active in different areas. The main aim of the Foundation is to defend the interests of the employers/cutter owners in questions linked to the social security, the working conditions, the assembling and equipment of vessels, etc.
The Foundation appoints the members of the different consultative committees, working groups and consultation cells and it works in close collaboration with the other organisations in the maritime sector, at national as well as at international level.

EUCC – The Coastal Union is an association with 2700 members and member organisations in 40 countries. Founded in 1989 with the aim of promoting coastal conservation by bridging the gap between scientists, environmentalists, site managers, planners and policy makers, it has grown since then into the largest network of coastal practitioners and experts in Europe, with 14 National Branches and offices in seven countries. Its working area is Europe and neighbouring regions.
EUCC’s mission is to promote coastal management that integrates biodiversity conservation with those forms of development that sustain the integrity of landscapes, the cultural heritage and the social fabric of EU coasts taking into account the effects of climate change.
