NSAC Workshop on the functioning of the Landing Obligation took place on 17-18 January 2023 in Brussels (NH Berlaymont hotel).
The workshop featured a variety of stakeholders within and external to the NSAC (fisheries stakeholders, Member States, managers, technology experts etc.) who explored the state of play, experiences and challenges posed by the landing obligation and possible way forward with an aim to produce advice to the Commission in light of the upcoming Report on the Common Fisheries Policy and beyond. The purpose was not to question the landing obligation itself, but to identify its shortcomings and actions that could render it more efficacious and pragmatic.
The frst day of the workshop was open to all interested parties, the second day was for NSAC members only to work on recommendations.
